J.G. (GEOFF) CLARKE
President and CEO
Geoff Clarke is President and CEO of GreenCore Composites and most recently was Managing Director of the Centre for Materials and Manufacturing (CMM) a division of the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE).
Geoff is an industry executive. Prior to his position from 2000 to 2006 as Managing Director of CMM, and President of the former OCE organization Materials and Manufacturing Ontario (MMO), Geoff was a founder, and Chairman & CEO of AT Plastics, formed through a leveraged buy-out in 1988 and a public company starting in 1994. Prior to this, he held a number of senior positions at C-I-L, including responsibility for its plastics business, and positions in research and development, and sales and marketing.
Geoff is a past director and chair of the Canadian Plastics Industry Association. He is a founder and past chair of the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada and is a past director of the Manufacturing Technologies Advisory Board of the National Research Council.
During his involvement with OCE he served on a number of boards as Chair of the Advanced Design and Manufacturing Institute (ADMI), a director of the Centre for Automotive Materials and Manufacturing (CAMM), the Centre for Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging (CMAP), the McMaster University Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI), and the Research Management Committee of AUTO21.
Geoff holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alberta, and a master’s degree in business administration from York University. He is an avid skier and sailor and has two grand daughters. |

SAM HASAN
VP Marketing & Business Development
Sam Hasan is Vice-President, Marketing & Business Development and was most recently, Executive Vice-President, Films & Packaging, AT Plastics Inc.
Sam has extensive executive industry experience with over 20 years in the plastics industry. He was also a founding member of AT Plastics prior to which he worked at C-I-L in various roles including managing the converter business. Prior to C-I-L, Sam worked in the chemical, energy, pharmaceutical and aerospace industries in the UK and Canada.
Sam is past president of the Plastic Film Manufacturer’s Association of Canada and the Canadian Plastics Institute. Sam has also served on the Board of commercial and cultural organizations.
Sam has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a post-graduate degree in business administration and advanced technology.
He is an avid tennis and squash player and, regrettably, has no grand children as yet.

DR. MOHINI SAIN
Dr. Sain is the Director of the Centre for Biocomposites and Biomaterials Processing at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Toronto. He is cross-appointed to the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, the Institute of Environmental Science, and collaborates with American and European research institutes and universities.
Dr. Sain is the lead inventor of GreenCore’s technology and was the founding president of GreenCore Composites Inc. His research areas include nano-biocomposite processing, industrial bioplastics synthesis, reinforced natural fibre composite manufacturing processes, and developing cost effective technology to use renewable raw materials for industrial product manufacturing. He also works on isolation and surface science of pulp, micro-, and nano-fibres and their applications in papermaking, biopackaging, transportation and related areas. He is the leader of the AUTO21 Renewable Materials project and leads a research team on the Biocar Inititative in collaboration with the University of Guelph.
Dr. Sain has several patents in the area of natural fibre composites, has published more than 170 refereed journal papers, and has organized conferences in the United States, Europe and Canada. He recently co-edited a book on Cellulose Nano-biocomposites published by Oxford Press and has generated strong interest in academia and industry sectors to provide insight for transformative changes in the bio-economy.
Dr. Sain serves as a board member of the Canadian Natural Composites Council (CNCC) and on international standardization committees. He was also the recipient of the 2001 NSERC Industry-University Synergy Award.

P. (PETER) C. BOURGEOIS
Peter is a member of the Board of Directors of GreenCore Composites, and currently is a member of the Board of Directors of The Hudson’s Bay Company, Circa Enterprises Inc. and a member of the Board of Management of the Centre for Materials and Manufacturing.
Peter has an extensive industry background. Prior to joining the above boards, Peter was the Group Vice-President and General Manager of PGI Fabrene and PGI Difco.
Fabrene, a former divison of DuPont is a manufacturer of structurally engineered fabrics, using polyolefins and plastic composites, serving a broad cross section of industries in North America and selected world markets. Key industries served are: construction, lumber, reinforced packaging materials, agricultural, and structures. Peter had a key role in leading the company into new and proprietary segments. He was also directly involved in the acquisition of businesses which contributed to the strategic growth of the company.
PGI Difco is a former division of Dominion Textiles Inc, manufacturing high performance textiles from polyamides and various blends used primarily in fire and chemically resistant garments. Another key application is the body protection market for bullet proof vests used in military and police work.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University, Montreal. He is an avid skier and golfer and has four grand children. |
