Our History

GreenCore Composites is a spin-off created in 2005 by The Innovations Group (TIG), the University of Toronto commercialization office based at the MaRS Centre. GreenCore has exclusive worldwide license on Natural Fiber Composites technology invented through support of an Auto21 project by Dr. Mohini Sain, Faculty of Forestry and Chemical Engineering. GreenCore has continued to develop the technology and holds additional IP and pending patents.

Extensive trials with automotive industry partners have confirmed the commercial potential of GreenCore's technology.

In 2006, GreenCore's seasoned Management and Directors joined the Company.

Since 2005, GreenCore has raised over $2.2 Million in financing from the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation (MRI), the Ontario BioAuto Council, and private equity sources including First Leaside Visions LP.   With this funding, GreenCore is currently operating a Pilot Plant in Toronto, Canada for product development, and to produce commercial quantities of NCell™ high performance compounds.

GreenCore began commercial sales 2009 in the Lawn & Garden market.
